This Year’s Summer camp was held at the start of August at Gilwell Park. We simply could not have asked for better weather - glorious sunshine the whole week (until the very last night that is). An action packed week included plenty of on-site activities such as high ropes, raft building, rifle shooting, gauntlet run and the 3G swing. The explorers went on an overnight expedition whilst the troop went on a light hike in Epping Forest. We ran Volleyball, Danish long-ball, Come Dine with Me, capture the flag, a super last night campfire, and we even had our own open air cinema. The highlight of the week though was our day trip to London. We visited some of the sights, went to the London Dungeon, saw Wicked, and finished the evening with stunning night time views from the London Eye. All the photos can be found in our Gallery.

First ever Chief Scout Bronze Awards

Cheif Scout Bronze
We are very pleased to announce that the first ever Chief Scout Bronze awards at the 185 have been gained. Congratulations to Jack, Cameron Finlayson, Gavin and Rairidh. It's an amazing achievement for these Beavers, and we hope that they will be the first of many more to come.

Beavers are 2014 Football Champions

Beaver Football April 2014 5
The 185th came 1st and 2nd at this year’s District Beaver football (a first win of trophy since 1998) with one point between each team. 185 Orange managed to get the top spot, closely followed by 185 Green, and so a trophy for the whole colony returns back to Burnside. Well done to all the players, to the parents for their support and encouragement, and for Manager Stuart guiding the teams to victory!

The joint Beaver and Cub Christmas Camp held at the Allander Chalet at Auchengillan seems now to becoming an annual event. The Beavers and their parents joined the cubs for one night. The weather may have been pretty shocking, but a really great time was had by all. Thanks to the leaders, parents and cook team for putting on an excellent programme. Fundraisng update

SDichter-Fundraising-Post
The Kandersteg Fundraising committee has been hard at work planning and running a series of events to help towards the costs of our 2015 expedition to the Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland. Here is a couple of updates:

Wreath Night

A huge thank you to all those that attended, and to the Scouts, Neil and Jamie for their help in clearing up. It was an excellent evening with over 40 people attending. We raised over £400 - a tremendous result!

Sainsbury’s bagpacking

Our annual Christmas bag packing event was more successful that ever this year, with almost £2600 being raised on Christmas Eve. Well done and thank you to all those that took part, and a massive thanks to the Sainbury’s team and all of their very generous shoppers.

Coming up

Stay tuned for information on our next two events, the Bake Sale and Race night.
